The top lot at the Turangga Farm Dispersal Sale in Scone on Sunday was blue-blooded stakes-winner Brilliant Bisc, who is set to visit Newgate Farm’s Golden Slipper winner Capitalist this spring.
Offered in foal to Exosphere, Brilliant Bisc made $600,000 when snapped up by Geoff Roan on behalf of New Zealand owner/ breeder Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock.
Brilliant Bisc made headlines earlier this year when her yearling colt By Written Tycoon fetched $1million for Turangga Farm at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when snapped up by James Harron Bloodstock.
“It was a good result as (Sir Owen) is looking to improve his broodmare band at the top end and she fits the criteria of being fast and early and she has already thrown a type who can potentially be fast and early as well,” Roan told ANZ Bloodstock News.
“He is trying to breed horses for the Australian racing scene and that is the Golden Slipper and the like.”
Roan confirmed Capitalist would cover Brilliant Bisc in the new breeding season.
“She looks a good one for him with the first foal making $1,000,000 with the same cross and the reports are that the Written Tycoon colt has done everything they have wanted him to do (in his breaking-in and pretraining),” he said.
