Mares in foal to Newgate Farm young guns proved to be in hot demand at the Inglis Broodmare Sale this week, while our new addition Criterion can look forward to a busy spring with a bevy of lovely mares secured as future partners for the $7million earner.
Offered in foal to Australian Horse of the Year Dissident by Rothwell Park, Encosta de Lago mare Haiku fetched $580,000 to the bid of Coolmore Australia / China Horse Club.
A half-sister to Group I New Zealand Oaks winner Tapildo and Group II Silver Slipper Stakes winner Plagiarize, Haiku shot to fame as the dam of this season’s brilliant Group I winning sprinter Japonisme.
She also has a lovely weanling colt by The Factor (USA) in the pipeline.
Also in foal to Dissident was young stakes-placed Bel Esprit mare Diamond Glow that made $420,000 for Segenhoe Stud when secured by Inglis as agent, Victoria.
Mares in foal to Deep Field achieved strong results with stakes-winning Bernardini (USA) mare Forever Discreet fetching $520,000 for Rothwell Park when purchased by Spendthrift Farm.
A half-sister to two stakes-winners from the famed ‘Discreet’ family that has produced countless stakes performers headed by Group I SAJC Australasian Oaks winner Maybe Discreet, Forever Discreet went to champion sire Fastnet Rock in her first season at stud.
Mares in foal to our Group I VRC Australian Guineas winner Wandjina were also popular.
