Newgate Farm’s Golden Slipper winner Capitalist proved every bit as popular as you would hope at the 2019 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale this week with 15 weanlings averaging $129,667.
The champion son of Written Tycoon did best with a colt from Impetuous that made $255,000 for Newgate when bought by Bruce Mackenzie, while a colt from Iggimacool was not far behind fetching $200,000 for Newgate when bought by Grant Bloodstock.
Capitalist had 10 weanlings sell for $100,000 or more and is priced again this spring at $55,000.
Other Newgate first crop sires Extreme Choice, Flying Artie and Winning Rupert also posted strong results.
Extreme Choice had 12 weanlings average $71,333 with his top seller a colt from Seeking Susan that made $130,000 for Kingstar Farm when bought by Yu Long Investments.
Winning Rupert had 12 youngsters average $30,750 with his best result a colt from Blevola Miss that made $85,000 for Kambula Stud when bought by steve Englebrecht.
Flying Artie had 17 weanlings average $27,853 with his top seller a filly from Aurora Glow that made $90,000 for Rothwell Park when secured by Roderick Wachman Bloodstock.
