Newgate Farm’s Foxwedge has been a regular shuttler to Whitsbury Manor in the UK for the past three seasons and posted his first Northern Hemisphere bred winner overnight with a stylish victory at Beverly for two year-old filly Seafront.
Prepared by James Tate and ridden by Ryan Moore, Seafront was sent out favourite following her encouraging debut sixth at Newmarket seven days ago.
She gave punters no cause for concern when forging clear to win the five furlong maiden by three-quarters of a length.
Seafront runs in the colours of Saeed Manana and was purchased by Rabbah Bloodstock for 18,000gns from Book 3 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.
She is the eighth winner from Wolfhound mare Locharia, who comes from the family of Group I winning sprinters Lochsong and Lochangel.
Already the sire of five winners in Australia and New Zealand, Foxwedge is having a year off from shuttling in 2016, but will stand at Newgate this spring at a fee of $22,000.
