The foundation sire for Newgate Farm, Fastnet Rock’s Group I winning son Foxwedge has enjoyed a fruitful past 12 months that has seen him soar past his rivals to finish as the Champion Second Season Sire for 2016/2017.
Foxwedge made a modest, but encouraging start to his stud career siring six winners last season with metropolitan winner Foxplay his best performer and 12 months on she is now his first Group I winner.
Foxwedge has churned out 51 winners of $3.6 million with Foxplay one of his three Australian stakes-winners to go with star Kiwi Group II winner Volpe Veloce.
His burgeoning success will see Foxwedge cover a full book of mares this spring at Newgate Farm at a fee of $22,000.
