Newgate Farm’s Group I winning Snitzel son Sizzling has been quick to make his mark with some lovey weanlings on show in Sydney at the 2016 Inglis Australian Select Weanling Sale headed by a filly from Big Birdie that made $145,000.
Consigned for sale by Rothwell Park Thoroughbreds, the star filly was secured by Henry Field Bloodstock and is the third foal of a daughter of Champion NZ 2YO One Under.
“I paid a bit more than I wanted for her but equally she was a standout filly and she was the type of filly that we like to buy,” Field told ANZ Bloodstock News.
“She will probably go to the Magic Millions in January and I am very confident she will be in the top ten per cent of fillies physically in that sale. I think she will be the very top of that sale in terms of good looking, athletic, running types of fillies.
“If I am right in that assessment, we’ll hopefully be rewarded. She was expensive but I think she is very nice.”
Sizzling had four weanlings sell in the premium Platinum Session at an average price of $58,250, which was the highest average of all first season sires with more than one weanling sold.
His fee remains at $16,500 in 2016.
Northern Meteor’s high class son Eurozone also posted good results with his colts from Carlina and Cavita sold by Think Big Stud for $75,000 and $60,000.
The colt from Carlina was bought by renowned pinhookers Ampulla Lodge/Ascot Farm.
Eurozone also stays at the same fee this year of $13,750.
