A $375,000 Magic Millions purchase for the Hong Kong Jockey Club from the Newgate Farm draft, talented Commands gelding Leading Horse was a good winner at Sha Tin on New Year’s Day providing the perfect pedigree update for his yearling half-sister to be offered at Magic Millions next week by Newgate Farm.
Leading Horse broke his maiden in early October for Peter Ho and was able to overcome a wide gate and 59.5 kg to win his second race from just five starts with Joao Moreira in the saddle.
Leading Horse is from well-bred Giant’s Causeway (USA) mare Hides, a half-sister to Group II winner Shania Dane and stakes-winners Scintillation and Risk Aversion.
The current yearling from Hides, a filly by Foxwedge, will be offered by Newgate at Magic Millions as Lot 297.
Her sire Foxwedge produced another promising first starter at Flemington on New Year’s Day with the John Sadler trained filly La Renarde beaten narrowly in a tight finish.
