Newgate Farm achieved 100% clearance and we were the second leading farm by aggregate behind only Coolmore Australia.
The top seller for Newgate came on day one of the sale when outstanding race mare Omei Sword was knocked down to Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock/ Freyer Bloodstock for $1.7 million.
A Group II winner by High Chaparral from the Group I MRC Thousand Guineas winner Irish Lights, she is headed for Japan and a mating with Deep Impact.
Newgate also sold Group I winner Shamal Wind on behalf of Donna Love. She was in foal to Redoute’s Choice and was snapped up for $1.2 million with Gerry Harvey of Baramul Stud the winning bidder.
24 mares covered by Capitalist generated $5,530,000 making him the third leading covering sire by aggregate at this sale.
His best results included: $480,000 for Never Be Discreet bought by Rosemont Stud; $400,000 for Cancel bought by Coolmore for $400,000 and Fawcett, a three-quarter sister to triple Group I winner Trapeze Artist was bought by his owner Bert Vieira for $400,000.
Flying Artie hit the heights with Ten Carat Rock, who was offered by Newgate Farm and bought by Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock for $400,000.
From the renowned Shantha’s Choice family that has given us champions such as Redoute’s Choice and current star Shoals, she was one of seven mares that all sold for $100,000 or more having been covered by Flying Artie.
Extreme Choice also made his mark with stakes-winning O’Reilly mare Spellbinder bought for $200,000 from the Sledmere draft by Newgate Farm.
