Patience looks like paying dividends for Warwick Farm trainer David Pfeiffer, who produced a promising winner at Canterbury on Wednesday, June 24 in Lord Leofric, a $70,000 Magic Millions purchase from the draft of Newgate Farm.
The four year-old son of War Pass (USA) won in good style when resuming from a spell two weeks ago at Warwick Farm, but was even more impressive this time around.
The lightly raced entire charged home from last to win the 1200 metre Benchmark 70 sprint running away by three lengths and impressing his rider Tye Angland.
“When I got him out gee he let down strong, one of the best feelings that I’ve had for a little bit on a wet track,” Angland said.
“He’s a horse that uses no energy throughout the race and he’ll keep ticking over and can win a Saturday race for sure.”
With three wins and a third from just five starts, Lord Leofric shows plenty of potential and is one of three winners from Lady Isabella, a half-sister to stakes-winner Booroonga.
