A new Australian sales record price for the progeny of first season sire Foxwedge was set during the second session of the 2015 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in Melbourne on Monday when a colt from Group 1 placed Encosta de Lago mare Glowlamp was purchased for $420,000.
Offered from the draft of Newgate Farm the star colt was bought by New South Wales trainer Paul Perry.
He was bred by Dr Edmund and Belinda Bateman, who raced both his sire Foxwedge and dam Glowlamp.
The Bateman’s bought Foxwedge for $925,000 from the 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale and Glowlamp for $1.4 million at the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, so they must be pleased that two such good looking parents have produced a good looking foal!
Glowlamp was covered again by Foxwedge last spring.
At the conclusion of Day Two Foxwedge is the leading first season sire at Inglis Premier averaging $187,500 for eight lots sold, just ahead of Sepoy.
Newgate Farm is also leading the vendors by average list with 10 yearlings averaging $174,500.
The sale continues.
