Patience looks like paying dividends for Warwick Farm trainer David Pfeiffer, who coaxed another stylish win at Warwick Farm on Wednesday from Lord Leofric, a $70,000 Magic Millions purchase from the draft of Newgate Farm.
The four year-old son of War Pass (USA) has been in rare form since resuming from a spell on June 3, reeling off three consecutive wins.
Creeping up in the weights now in Benchmark 75 class, he powered home with real determination under 58 kg for Hugh Bowman to win the 1100 metre sprint by a neck.
“On this track you’ve got to help horses through their gears,” Bowman said.
“Once this horse got balanced and organised from the 200 metre mark, although I had a good length to make up, I was confident.
“He’s an unassuming horse this, his record is outstanding and David (Pfieffer) is doing a wonderful job with him.”
With four wins and a third from just six starts, Lord Leofric has won nearly $90,000 in prizemoney.
He is showing plenty of potential to go further and is one of three winners from Lady Isabella, a half-sister to stakes-winner Booroonga.
