Mares in foal to Newgate Farm’s explosive dual Group I winning sprinter Russian Revolution were in hot demand at the 2019 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast with 21 mares generating $5,630,000 in turnover putting him third on the covering sires by aggregate list behind only Zoustar and I Am Invincible.
The best result for a mare in foal to Russian Revolution was Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes winner Lyre’s dam Erato, who was offered by Yarraman Park and secured by Yulong Investments for $1.75 million making her the second highest priced mare sold at this sale.
“Obviously she’s a blue hen,” Yulong’s Sam Fairgray said.
“It’s a great family and she’s produced the Blue Diamond winner.
“Mr Zhang was very keen to get her and we are very pleased she will be joining the Yulong team.”
Erato provided the team from Australian Bloodstock with a dream result. They purchased her for $120,000 two years ago at the National Broodmare Sale when she was offered through the Godolphin draft. With her first foal since winning the Blue Diamond Stakes the team decided to offer her in foal to Russian Revolution and it proved a masterstroke.
Newgate Farm are looking forward to seeing the first foals this spring for Russian Revolution, who stands at a fee of $55,000.
