The 2018 Inglis Scone Yearling Sale on Sunday was topped by a stunning filly by Newgate Farm’s exciting young sire Wandjina that made $110,000 for Southern Cross Breeders.
Knocked down to J Stitt, the attractive chestnut is the second foal of Galleries, a winning half-sister by Royal Academy (USA) to stakes-winner Vezalay and to the dam of stakes-winner Sir Frenchie.
“We knew she was a nice filly and we knew she would sell well but we didn’t genuinely believe she would sell as well as she did,” said Senga Bissett, who consigned the filly on behalf of her breeder Catherine Remond.
“She was popular at inspections, but she behaved beautifully all the way along and has such a lovely temperament.”
Galleries was covered by Wandjina again in 2016 and has another weanling filly by him to follow.
The top priced colt at the Scone Yearling was a cracking youngster by another of the Newgate youg guns in Deep Field from stakes-winning Snitzel mare Bouzy Rouge.
Consigned by Retreat Farm he made $100,000 when bought by D Head.
Bouzy Rouge returned to Deep Field again in 2016 and has a weanling filly by him to follow.
