Christmas is coming and the aptly named Santa Rocks looks like bringing connections plenty of Christmas cheer after scoring a dominant win at Canterbury on Friday night.
Prepared by Hawkes Racing, the lightly raced daughter of champion sire Fastnet Rock was supported in the betting at good odds and powered to the line to win the Benchmark 71 event over 1550 metres by a length and three-quarters.
With just two wins and a second from five starts, Santa Rocks is coming into her own and looks set for her best preparation.
A $350,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the draft of Newgate Farm for Paul Messara/ Blue Sky Bloodstock, Santa Rocks runs for a big syndicate that includes her breeders and Arrowfield Stud.
She is the first foal of Aussie Christmas (USA), an unraced half-sister to Group I winner and sire Harlan’s Holiday.
