Brilliant filly Kentucky Miss made history as the first winner for her sire Foxwedge when scoring on debut at Warwick Farm back in January and she resumed from a spell with a stylish victory at Wyong on Tuesday.
The Joe Pride trained filly made light of her 59 kg, travelling just behind the leaders before dashing away to win the 1000 metre open juvenile event by a length and three-quarters over expensive colt King of War.
A $250,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Joe Pride Racing from the Luskin Park draft, Kentucky Miss runs for a syndicate that features her breeders including Wilf Mula and Paul Whelan.
Kentucky Miss is the first foal of Twelve Pack Shelly (USA), a juvenile stakes-winner in the US by Deputy Storm.
Twelve Pack Shelly produced another filly by Foxwedge last year and was then covered again by the Group I winning son of champion sire Fastnet Rock.
Kentucky Miss is a most fitting winner for Foxwedge as he was also bred by Luskin Park and sold as a yearling at Inglis Easter back in 2010 when he fetching $925,000.
She is one of 14 first crop winners in both hemispheres for Newgate Farm’s Foxwedge, who has had six of those winners in Australia this season.
Foxwedge stands this spring at a fee of $22,000.
