The 2015 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Selected Yearling Sale has concluded with gains in aggregate, average and median with Newgate Farm’s exciting grey shuttle sire The Factor (USA) making a huge impression during the second session.
A dual Group I winning son of boom sire War Front, The Factor had six yearlings offered and all were sold at a stunning average of $387,000 – an amazing result off a service fee of just $15,000.
Top seller for The Factor at $750,000 was a gorgeous grey colt from Street Scene that was bought by leading trainer D Wayne Lukas on behalf of his client Willis Horton, while not far behind was an eye-catching bay colt from Smiling Eyes that was bought for $600,000 by Crupi’s New Castle Farm.
The star colt from Zafonic mare Street Scene is a half-brother to five winners including stakes-winner Traffic Guard.
Blandford Bloodstock also snapped up a The Factor colt from Seeking Luck that made $375,000 and his best result for a filly came with a stylish miss from Raisa that made $250,000 to the bid of Stephen Carr.
“Feedback suggested The Factor would have a good sale at Saratoga, but this has exceeded all expectations,” said an elated Henry Field.
“He’s smashed it right out of the park! Given the quality of the catalogue to have two yearlings feature in the overall Top 10 sold is remarkable.”
The Factor’s sire War Front featured with a new Group I winner last weekend with Air Force Blue taking the Phoenix Stakes in Ireland in a performance regarded by many as the best by any European juvenile this year.
The Factor will to return to Newgate Farm this spring at a fee of $16,500 and covered 115 mares here last year.
