A powerhouse grey colt from the first US crop of Newgate Farm shuttler The Factor (USA) was the sale-topper at the 2016 Barretts March Selected 2YO Sale in the US this week when selling for $460,000.
Consigned for sale by Wavertree Stables, the colt from Broadway Lullaby was bought by Riki Takahaski, sitting alongside bloodstock agent Emmanuel de Seroux, who signed the ticket in the name of his Narvick International.
“I particularly liked The Factor,” confirmed Takahaski, who will send his purchase to Japan.
“I have already bought one colt at OBS by The Factor.”
Breezing in sub- 10 seconds, the colt was a successful pinhook having been bought as a yearling for $35,000 at Keneeland September last year.
“He’s a lovely horse,” said Ciaron Dunne of Wavertree Stables.
“We’ve been proud of him all winter. He’s probably the main reason we got on the plane [to California]. We figured this would be a good place to showcase him and we’re very pleased that he went to Narvick. We’ve had a lot of luck selling them horses over the years and we think they’ve got a good one.”
The Factor has some outstanding weanlings from his first Australian crop of foals to be offered at upcoming weanling sales.
