The powerful Gai Waterhouse stable produced a well-bred winner at Newcastle on Saturday in two year-old filly Sort After, a $200,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for Gai Waterhouse/ James Harron Bloodstock.
Second at her first two starts earlier this month, Wanted filly Sort After showed the benefit of race fitness and experience to win the 1400 metre maiden by a short head.
Raced by a syndicate that includes her breeder Nick Vass, Sort After is the first winner for speedy Group III winning More Than Read (USA) mare Patronyme, who was bought for $340,000 by Nick Vass Bloodstock in 2012.
