Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum has been a prominent top end buyer at Australian yearling sales in the past few years and his yellow and blue colours featured in the winners list at Caulfield on Saturday aboard progressive Medaglia D’oro (USA) mare Mefnooda.
A $420,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the draft of Newgate Farm, the Mick Price trained Mefnooda was sent out favourite for the 1440 metre fillies and mares event and forged clear to win by three-quarters of a length.
Bred by Fairway Thoroughbreds, Mefnooda has won five of nine starts and is a half-sister to Group III winner One Last Dance.
She is the fifth winner for Group III winning Danehill (USA) mare One World, who comes from the family of champion sires Storm Cat and Royal Academy.
One World was on-sold at the 2013 Inglis Broodmare Sale for $720,000 to US based Solis Bloodstock and was exported to North America.
