With his first Australian bred offspring about to turn two, Newgate Farm shuttler The Factor (USA) has been making news in the US with his exciting two year-old Morrison winning on debut by a staggering 17 lengths.
Trained by Joe Sharp, Morrison broke well from the gate, but was happy to sit off the pace before powering away down the running to win the six furlong contest at Belmont by daylight. Watch him win here.
Morrison was a $90,000 purchase from the March OBS 2YO Sale after running up a furlong in a tick over 10 seconds, so has provided a quick return for his owners Newport Stables.
A half-brother to stakes-placed Good Intent, Morrison is one of three winners from Liza Lu, a daughter of Group II winner Chamrousse.
With his oldest US progeny now three year-olds, The Factor has made a strong start to his stud career posting 49 winners including by five stakes-winners headed by Group I winner Noted and quoted.
A stunning looking Group I winning son of War Front, The Factor is due back at Newgate Farm this spring at a fee of $11,000.
