With two Group I winners on his resume, our foundation sire Foxwedge is now a well-established source of serious stakes horses, his popularity reflected in some great results at the 2018 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
Foxwedge had 13 yearlings offered in Book One with 12 selling at average $155,000 with his best result a gorgeous filly from Group III winner Galapagos Girl that made $425,000 for Cressfield when purchased by Gerald Ryan.
Denise Martin’s Star Thoroughbreds have already tasted success with Foxwedge thanks to his brilliant Group I winning daughter Foxplay, purchased from our draft at Magic Millions in 2015 for $160,000.
They returned to the source to secure our lovely filly from Runway Runaway for $280,000 and will be hoping she can emulate the success of her full sister Fox Swift, winner of the Listed VRC Cap d’Antibes Stakes at Flemington last spring.
Up and coming sires Sizzling and The Factor (USA) also posted good sales at Magic Millions.
Sizzling had five yearlings sell in Book One at an average $100,000 with Star Thoroughbreds securing his most expensive offering a filly from Wintour consigned by Torryburn Stud for $210,000.
The Factor had just two yearlings offered and sold in Book One with renowned judge Alan Bell paying $110,000 for Newgate Farm’s filly from Moral Suasion (USA).
A booming market at the Magic Millions ensured widespread success for our clients with Newgate Farm selling a total of 37 yearlings for $6,955,000 in Book One with the Dissident colt from Prompt fetching $525,000 to be our best result of the sale.
We congratulate all successful purchasers and wish everyone the best of luck going forward.
