Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum has been a prominent top end buyer at Australian yearling sales in the past few years and his yellow and blue colours featured in the winners list at Pakenham on Wednesday aboard lightly raced Medaglia D’oro (USA) mare Mefnooda.
A $420,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the draft of Newgate Farm, the Mick Price trained Mefnooda scored her second win from just five starts when saluting in the Benchmark 70 event over 1400 metres.
Bred by Fairway Thoroughbreds, Mefnooda is a half-sister to Group III winner One Last Dance and is the fifth winner for Group III winning Danehill (USA) mare One World, who comes from the family of champion sires Storm Cat and Royal Academy.
One World was on-sold at the 2013 Inglis Broodmare Sale for $720,000 to US based Solis Bloodstock and was exported to North America.
