A $460,000 Magic Millions purchase for Chris Waller from the Newgate Farm draft, three-year-old Fastnet Rock filly Loiret will end this season a winner after saluting at Gosford on Thursday.
Loiret raced away on the heavy track to win the 1600 metre maiden by nearly three lengths for the Chris Waller stable and while she may never scale the heights of racing, she probably does not have to as she comes with a gilt edged pedigree that will ensure her future worth at stud.
Raced by a syndicate of breeders, Loiret is a three-quarter sister to this season’s exciting juvenile stakes-winning filly Zamzam, who was third in the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes.
The David Hayes and Tom Dabernig trained daughter of Redoute’s Choice will no doubt have Oaks goals in the season ahead given the depth of her pedigree.
Bred by SF Bloodstock, Zamzam and Loiret are two of the first three foals from Group I placed Fleur De’here, a half-sister to Group I SAJC Australasian Oaks winner Tully Thunder and to the dam of Group II VRC Wakeful Stakes winner and Group I VRC Oaks runner-up Thunder Lady.
Further back in the family are Group I winners Black Mamba, Roman Emperor and Glorious Days, so it’s a pedigree steeped in classic stamina.
Fleur De’here has a weanling filly by Fastnet Rock and is due to foal to Snitzel this spring.
