A three year-old gelding by Darley heavy hitter Medaglia D’Oro (USA) from a big international Black Type family, Tuscan Red caught the eye as an impressive debut winner at Geelong on Tuesday providing a timely pedigree update for his weanling half-sister headed to the MM National Sale for Newgate Farm.
Prepared by Enver Jusufovic at Cranbourne, Tuscan Red stalked the leaders in third place and had little trouble surging past when them when asked to win the 1200 metre maiden by a length.
A $100,000 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale purchase from the Yarraman Park draft for his trainer and Gary Mudgway Bloodstock, Tuscan Red was a successful pinhook, bought originally by Brian Grassick Bloodstock for $75,000 from the Newgate Farm draft at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.
Tuscan Red is the third winner from three foals to race from Lekhani (IRE), an unraced half-sister to Group I winner and sire Myboycharlie (IRE) from the family of Australian Group I winner Snowland and current star filly Ghisoni.
Newgate Farm will offer the current weanling from Lekhani, a filly by our exciting young sire The Factor (USA) at the MM National Weanling Sale at the end of the month as Lot 352.
Lekhani is due to foal again this spring to the handsome grey dual Group I winning son of world renowned sire War Front.
