Flashy Grey Foxwedge Salutes

Wednesday, February 22, 2017

Flashy grey Foxwedge two year-old Albumin was an easy winner at Rosehill on Wednesday and owes his colouring to his famous grand-mother Tristanagh, the darling of the 1989 Melbourne Spring Carnival when winning the Thousand Guineas, Wakeful Stakes and VRC Oaks.

The Gerald Ryan trained gelding was second on debut earlier this month at Canterbury after leading and with race experience on his side proved too strong at the finish this time around.

He settled off the pace for Josh Parr and powered to the line to win the 1100 metre maiden by the best part of a length.

A $75,000 Inglis Premier purchase for his trainer from the Kornong Station draft, Albumin is a half-brother to Singapore stakes-winner Holy Empire and stakes-placed War Point.

He is the sixth winner from six to race from Dushanbe, a Secret Savings (USA) daughter of dual Group I winner Tristanagh.

Albumin is the 25th Australian winner of the season for Foxwedge.
