With his first Australian bred yearlings set to be offered at Australasian sales in 2017, Newgate Farm shuttler The Factor (USA) broke new ground at the weekend when siring his first winner in Japan.
US bred two year-old colt Zuar made a winning debut over 1400 metres on turf at Chukyo to win by a commanding three and a half lengths with champion jockey Ryan Moore in the saddle.
Originally a $290,000 yearling purchase in the US, the colt is trained by Manabu Ikezoe for Katsumi Yoshida and is the first winner for Salvar, a half-sister to Group III winner Clearly Now and stakes-winner Bendable.
Zuar is the tenth winner for The Factor, who has had nine first crop winners in the US headed by outstanding Group I winning filly Noted and Quoted and stakes-placed Senora Acero.
An explosive dual Group I winning son of super sire War Front, The Factor has good representation at upcoming Australian sales with 15 at Magic Millions and eight at Inglis Classic.
