The 2019 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale last week at the Gold Coast proved a resounding success for the Newgate Consignment with 60 race fillies and mares selling for $14,290,500 making us the leading vendor at this sale by aggregate.
Our draft was highlighted by two outstanding mares in Members Joy and Vezelay that sold for $1.45 million and $1million.
Members Joy is the dam of Group II winner Pure Elation and was sold in foal to her sire I Am Invincible with Aquis Farm the buyer.
“She’s a smashing mare,” Aquis Farm’s Shane McGrath said. “We loved her as an individual.
“She was a high quality racemare herself and she’s in foal to the most commercial stallion we have around at the moment.
“Obviously she has already produced a high class daughter that has won some proper races. She’s a cracker Pure Elation and hopefully she can produce another one like that.”
A stakes-winning daughter of Shamardal (USA), Vezalay was also offered in foal to I Am Invincible in her second season at stud after producing a colt by Golden Slipper winner Capitalist as her first foal.
She was bought by Widden Stud/ David Redvers and will be headed to a mating with Zoustar.
“She was one of our star picks of the sale,” Widden’s Antony Thompson said. “She is such a good looker and was a very good racehorse – she had that exceptional speed and she had that bit of x-factor when she hit the track.
“Obviously she’s in foal to a hot sire and she will be a great mare for Zoustar.”
