Returning to the winner’s list at Randwick on Saturday was the talented Gai Waterhouse trained filly Themis, a $160,000 Magic Millions purchase for Waterhouse and James Harron Bloodstock from the draft of Newgate Farm.
The neat bay daughter of Not a Single Doubt finished midfield at her previous start in the Group II BRC The Roses over 2000 metres and appreciated a drop in distance and class to score a stylish length victory.
With two wins and three placigns from nine starts, Themis has won over $120,000 for her owners B2B Bloodstock and Kate Waterhouse.
Bred by Dr Edmund Bateman, Themis is the first living foal of Thebe, a winning half-sister by Galileo (IRE) to stakes-winner My Lady’s Chamber, who was second in the 2006 Group I AJC Flight Stakes won by the Gai Waterhouse trained Cheeky Choice.
On-sold in 2015, Thebe had been a regular partner at Newgate Farm for foundation sire Foxwedge, who was raced by Dr Bateman and his wife Belinda.
Her subsequent three foals after Themis are all by Foxwedge.
