The connections of Paradoxium have been riding the rollercoaster of racing with their talented colt, who was a hot favourite for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic before being ruled out through illness and now he’s favourite for the Golden Slipper .
Trained by Bjorn Baker and ridden by Jason Collett, Paradoxium was having his first run since winning the Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic on December 10.
Given a recent tune up barrier trial, Paradoxium was able to pick up where he left off, leading throughout to score a stylish victory.
The brilliant son of Extreme Choice controlled the race and gave a good kick, shaking off Hidrix and then proving too good for G2 Silver Slipper winner Stretan Ruler to win by a length and a half.
The time was slower than Chayan ran in the Reisling, but it was a dominant performance.

“Full credit to all my team, particularly my vet, Alan Froggley, and the vets who looked after him up in Queensland. He got very, very sick, very fast and for him to get back here and do that is pretty special,” said Bjorn Baker, who was relieved to have the colt back in the game.
“He had a gallop a couple of weeks ago and went as good as ever. Probably his trial the other day as well.
“You always hope there is improvement, and us trainers say there’s improvement, we’re just hoping too. I do think there is genuine improvement going into the Slipper in two weeks.”
Paradoxium was a $400,000 Magic Millions purchase from Silverdale Farm for Bjorn Baker Racing/Clarke Bloodstock Pty Ltd (FBAA)/Ridgmont and is the first foal of stakes-placed Better Than Ready mare Paredo.
She is a half-sister to stakes-placed Snipzu, the dam of Group I placed colt Don Corleone, who is also by Paradoxium’s sire Extreme Choice.
Another close relation is Group I winner Private Harry, while unbeaten Perth stakes-winner Hot and High also appears in the pedigree of an old family that is enjoying somewhat of a resurgence.
