Newgate Farm’s dual Group I winning grey shuttler The Factor (USA) has sired his first winner in the US with Senora Acero breaking the ice with a dominant victory on turf.
Prepared by W. Bret Calhoun, Senora Acero was fifth on debut at Churchill Downs last month, but was well fancied to break her maiden at Ellis Park when stepping up to a mile.
Green at the start, she settled back in fifth position and produced a strong finish to charge home and win by two lengths.
She is also the first winner for her dam Riboletti, a Distorted Humor daughter of Champion Older Mare and six-time Group I winner Riboletta.
A supremely talented and good looking son of outstanding sire War Front, The Factor is due back for his third season at Newgate Farm this spring at a fee of $16,500.
His first Australian bred weanlings have sold for up to $220,000 and his stock are sure to make an impact at our yearling sales next year.
