The Listed BRC Dalrello Stakes at Eagle Farm on Saturday produced a thrilling finish with Jagged Edge holding a nose margin over Deep Field’s super talented Deep Sea in the 1000 metre sprint.
Trained by Mark Newnham, Deep Sea was having his second start following an easy debut win in Sydney earlier this month and charged home from off the pace to just miss.
Deep Sea was bought from the NZB Ready to Run Sale by his trainer for $75,000 out of the JK Farm draft and was a successful pinhook having been bought initially from the Bowness Stud draft at the Magic Millions for $46,000 by Ric Wylie Bloodstock.
Deep Sea is the first winner for minor winning Dubawi (IRE) mare Isabel Street, who comes from an imported US Black type family.
He is the fifth stakes horse exciting young sire Deep Field, who is following in the footsteps of his sire Northern Meteor and building a tidy record of smart winners headed by his Group winning colts Dig Deep and Cosmic Force.
