Encouraging Saturday results for our young gun sires Wild Ruler and Tiger of Malay with a first stakes horse for the former and very nearly a Saturday metro winner for the latter.
Phillip Stokes and Lachlan Nenidorf combined with Wild Ruler colt Stretan Ruler in the Listed MRC Merson Cooper Stakes at Caulfield, where he looked set for victory until being caught on the line by Eternal Warrior to go down by a whisker.
Eternal Warrior is a first stakes-winner for Extreme Choice stallion Extreme Warrior, so our champion sire Extreme Choice now has two young sire sons at stud that have produced stakes-winners with our Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside producing Group III ATC Breeders Plate winner Incognito.
It’s very early days, but Extreme Choice is a sire we believe can leave a lasting impression for the years to come with the seeds of that theory now coming to fruition.
A half-brother to Group I placed Group II winner Stretan Angel by Snitzel’s Group I winning son Wild Ruler, Stretan Ruler was a $220,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Stokes Racing / Suman Hedge Bloodstock from Willow Park and couldn’t have done much more on debut apart from win, so he looks set for a very bright future.
Tiger of Malay (also by Extreme Choice) filly Tigroni got posted wide in the run at Rosehill on Saturday and faced a very tough task, but still had the tenacity to kick on and run second to Snitzel colt Fireball.
Trained by John O’Shea and Tom Charlton, she was an $85,000 Magic Millions purchase for O’Shea-Charlton Racing/James Bester Bloodstock/Ladies Syndicate from the Newgate draft and her all ladies owners group will be more than a little excited about a possible trip to the Gold Coast in January!
Wild Ruler and Tiger of Malay have representation at upcoming sales in 2026.
Wild Ruler has 12 for Magic Millions and 12 for Inglis Classic.
Tiger of Malay has four for Magic Millions and 10 for Inglis Classic.
