Our exciting Golden Slipper winning sire Stay Inside made his presence felt at the official Sydney 2YO trials on Monday morning at Randwick when he produced Eviction Notice to win by the biggest margin of the day.
Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, the fleet footed bay colt flew the gates for Tim Clark and that was the last his rivals saw of him.
Eviction Notice led all the way by a space and then opened up to win by nearly eight lengths clocking a slick 49.53 seconds to be the quickest colt of the session.
“Tim went out with a bit of intent there today,” said Adrian Bott.
“He’s a horse that has shown plenty of natural talent at home, and he’s just done everything so easy for us all the way throughout his preparation, so I just wanted to place him under that little bit more pressure today and teach him what it’s all about, which he’s been able to do.
“I like the way he responded, so there are some really encouraging signs.”
A $375,000 Magic Millions purchase from Newgate for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing/Kestrel Thoroughbreds, Eviction Notice is a half-brother to US stakes-winner High Class and is the second Australian foal from Group III placed import Euroboss (USA), a daughter of Street Boss.
Eviction Notice will be headed towards the Group III ATC Breeders Plate and may not be the only runner in the race by Stay Inside from the stable with flashy grey colt Our Emperor also giving notice of his potential with a close second in his heat behind stablemate Knightsbridge (Farnan).
Stay Inside had three more place-getters this morning with the Waterhouse Bott trained filly Ignition Code finishing third in her heat, while smart colts The Machine Gun and Incognito also placed for their respective trainers Peter Snowden and Michael Freedman.
Freedman put the polish on Stay Inside during his racing career and has the task of preparing his most expensive yearling from his first crop in Incognito.
A $1million Magic Millions purchase from Eureka Stud for the James Harron Colts Partnership/ Tony Fung Colts, Incognito will take plenty of improvement from the outing, showing real brilliance to surge up to the lead in the straight before tiring near the line to finish a close third.
Stay Inside has 66 juveniles entered for the Golden Slipper, so it’s encouraging to see so many showing talent and trainability this early in the spring.
Stay Inside is working though his fourth book of mares at Newgate at a fee of $66,000.
Wild Ruler also had a nice result with his filly The Wildling showing abundant pace to lead for home in her heat before being run down late to finish third behind her stablemate Shiki (Too Darn Hot (GB), who ran the fastest time of the morning.
Both fillies are from the powerful Waterhouse Bott stable and will have designs on the Group III ATC Gimcrack Stakes.
