Newgate Farm Celebrate Magic Success

The Newgate Farm team enjoyed outstanding success at the 2020 Magic Millions Yearling Sale selling 46 youngsters for $9,665,000 at an average $210,109 with our Golden Slipper winning young gun Capitalist the leading first season sire by aggregate.

Capitalist had 33 yearlings generate $7,850,000 at an average $237,879 with his $750,000 top selling colt from Booklet also the top seller in our draft.

The third foal of stakes-winning Tale of the Cat (USA) mare Booklet, he was bought by James Harron Bloodstock.

Newgate also had big results selling Snitzel colts from Into the Vanguard and Fontiton for $600,000 and $575,000 with David Ellis and Ciaron Maher Racing/Dermot Farrington Bloodstock the buyers.

Our other first season sires all performed well with Winning Rupert particularly strong achieving an average of $172,917 with 12 yearlings sold highlighted by a $425,000 colt from Istanford (USA) that was consigned by Newgate and bought by Hawkes Racing.

Extreme Choice had 12 yearlings average $155,417 with his top seller a filly from Decorah that made $310,000 for Kulani Park when bought by Ciaron Maher Racing/Charles McGladdery Bloodstock.

Flying Artie had 14 yearlings average $102,143 with his top seller a filly from West Coast Chick that made $200,000 for Newgate when bought by Grant Morgan of OnTrack Thoroughbreds, who has had a lot of luck purchasing the progeny of first crop of sires.

Newgate have been thrilled with the growing success achieved on the track by the progeny of Deep Field, who is the leading sire of three year-old winners in the country this season.

He increased his Magic Millions average on last year, rising from $202,500 in 2019 to $262,333 this year with 15 yearlings sold headed by the colt from Roulettes that made $800,000 for Attunga Stud when bought by Alan Bell.

Dissident also had some handy sales with six yearlings averaging $84,167 and a top price of $170,000 for a filly from Exsqueeze Me offered by Gilgai Farm and bought by Matthew Dunn/Neil Jenkinson.

Sizzling only had a couple of entries for the sale but rewarded Edinburgh Park owner Ian Smith, who sold the half-sister to Rubisaki by Sizzling for $100,000 in Book 2.

Super One also had small numbers, but did have a colt from Charleah that made $100,000 in Book 1 for Tyreel Stud and a colt from Rose of Lonhro that made $110,000 in Book 2 for Gleeson Thoroughbred Connections.
