Newgate Sires on Fire at Inglis Great Southern

Sunday, June 16, 2019

Victoria is the home state of champion sire Written Tycoon, so it only seemed fitting that his burgeoning sire sons Capitalist and Winning Rupert should make a big splash on the first day of the Inglis Great Southern Sale on Sunday.

Burnewang North had a great result with their Capitalist colt from Feeling Positive that made $155,000 to the bid of IDK Racing, who will re-offer the colt as a yearling next year.

“We liked the Capitalist colt the first time we saw him and we went back a couple more times,” said Peter Morgan, who was acting for IDK Racing.

“He is just a nice colt. He will be a nice horse come the Premier Sale.

“I thought he was about $160,000 to $180,000 and we valued him at close to $300,000 as a yearling next year.”

The colt is the second foal of minor winner Feeling Positive, a half-sister by Not a Single Doubt to stakes-winners Mitraad and Combat Kitty.

Winning Rupert scored a big hit with his filly from Cottesmoor that made $145,000 for Princess Park when snapped up by Hall of Fame Bloodstock for $145,000.

She was bought for a Hong Kong based client and is likely to be retained to race. She is the second foal of a half-sister by Duporth to Group II winner Lonhspresso.
