The familiar colours of Grahame and Linda Huddy were carried to victory at Eagle Farm on Wednesday by well bred North Pacific filly Making News.
Trained by Tony Gollan and ridden by Ryan Maloney, Making News had placed in her first two starts earlier this year and was second up from a spell.
She raced on the pace and was tenacious to the line winning the 1000m maiden by a neck over the race favourite Cardonette.
A $220,000 Magic Millions purchase for Newgate Farm for Peachester Lodge, Making News was bred by Nick Vass and foaled and raised at Newgate.
She is the third winner from three foals to race from well bred Redoute’s Choice mare Janast, a daughter of stakes-winner Booklet and half-sister to stakes-placed Forbes.
Janast passed away this year and her final foal is a yearling colt by Cox Plate winner State of Rest (IRE).
North Pacific stands at a fee of $11,000 this spring.
