In 2019, it was three year-old colt Brutal that emerged victorious from the Group I ATC Doncaster Mile and he featured at the rain delayed Ascot meeting on Wednesday when his talented three year-old gelding Sentimental Legend won the $125,000 Listed WATC Melvista Stakes (2200m).
Trained by Grant and Alana Williams, he put the writing on the wall last start when finishing second in the Listed WATC JC Roberts Stakes to Aberdeen Flyer and was able to turn the tables on that rival over the longer trip.
Ridden by Lucy Fiore, the hot favourite hit the front with a furlong to run and cruised clear to win by more than a length.
