Stakes-placed three times previously, Capitalist filly Akaysha was overdue for a stakes win, but got the job done at Eagle Farm on Saturday when she made light of a heavy track to win the Listed BRC Mick Dittman Plate (1000m).
Trained by Peter Snowden, Akaysha was second up from a spell and ready to fire with Chad Schofield to ride and was sent out as favourite.
She enjoyed a good run in transit and was able to pounce late and surge clear to win by a length taking her overall record to two wins and four placings from 10 starts with prizemoney topping $410,000.

“I knew how well she was going,” said Chad Schofield.
“I missed her first-up run due to suspension so it’s nice to team up with her again.
“I think she’ll be better on top of the ground.
“She handled it (the heavy track) OK but it’s very gluey. Her assets are her turn of foot and I think on top of the ground she can really use that.”
Akaysha is a home bred for David Baxter’s Macquarie Stud and is a full sister to stakes-winner Ka Bling and half-sister to the dam of stakes-winner Brudenell being the second stakes-winner among seven winners from eight foals to race from Group III winner Zingaling.
Also bred and raced by Macquarie Stud, Zingaling has not had a foal since Akaysha.
Akaysha is the 31st lifetime stakes-winner for Capitalist, who stands at Newgate this spring at a fee of $44,000.
He is the leading sire of Australian winners this season and Akaysha is his seventh seasonal stakes-winner.
