Kiki Express, the first of three mares to be offered at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale in foal to Extreme Choice, was sold tonight for $1.2million.
She was consigned by Newgate Farm and purchased by Stefan Pardi of SP Thoroughbreds.
A juvenile stakes-winner by Golden Slipper winner Sepoy, Kiki Express comes from the family of champion sprinter Isca and her first foal, a filly by Anamoe, sold for $800,000 at Magic Millions this year.
Stefan Pardi was thrilled to secure the mare and was pleasantly surprised at the price.
“She’s in foal to Extreme Choice, who averaged $1. 6 million at the Easter Sale and she’s a great mare that produces good foals. I’m really, really happy. I think it’s good buying and it’ll probably prove that it’s good buying in the future,” Pardi said.
“She was my number one. I wanted to take her home, but I thought I’d have to probably go to 1. 5 to 1. 7 million. I couldn’t believe it’s been knocked down to me, to be honest with you.”
Kiki Express has a weanling filly by Ozzmosis that will be one to watch at the yearling sales next year.
The two additional mares in foal to Extreme Choice were Hazlebrook and Sizzlefly, who sold for $1,050,000 to Yulong and $600,000 to Mitchell Bloodstock respectively.
