Well-travelled Capitalist gelding King of Roseau is a quiet achiever for the Peter Snowden stable and has won races in three states in the past 12 months with his latest victory coming at Gosford on Saturday in the $250,000 Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m).
Given a freshen up after his last start win in the Group III ATC Liverpool City Cup back in February, King of Roseau was given the steadier of 60kg for this assignment, but given a patient ride by Kerrin McEvoy he was produced at just the right time.
Tenacious to the line, King of Roseau surged when he had to snatching a half head win.
All hail the king! 👑

“He is absolutely airborne the horse,” said Aaron Lau, assistant trainer to Peter Snowden.
“He had a little freshen up after the Liverpool City Cup and has come back in, in terrific shape with a nice tick over trial.
“It was always going to be tough today carrying that weight around here and we had him in at the Gold Coast as well, but it probably looked a more suitable race staying here.”
King of Roseau was a $95,000 Magic Millions purchase from Ashleigh Thoroughbreds and has now won seven races from 24 starts and more than $2.3million in prizemoney.
King of Roseau is the second and final foal of Dominica, a Choisir daughter of Group I winner Danni Martine. His breeder Senga Bissett, who bred his mother and his grand-mother has retained a small share.
She can certainly produce a good Capitalist having also bred and sold his first Group I winner Captivant!
King of Roseau is the highest stakes earner among 31 stakes-winners for Newgate Farm’s Golden Slipper winning sire Capitalist, who is real value this spring at a fee of $44,000.
