Brutal has had a hot run this week with four winners in the past four days and put the icing on the cake on Friday with a winning double at the first day of the big Scone two day meeting.
Trained by Brett and Georgie Cavanough, three year-old filly Bird Whistle won her maiden on debut at Scone last July and then showed stakes serious potential last spring with a second to subsequent Group I ATC Australian Derby winner Green Spaces in the Group III Newcastle Spring Stakes.
Not beaten far in three starts in Group races over the autumn, Bird Whistle found it all too easy when dropped back to a Class 1 over 1600m and duly gave Jason Collett an easy steer to win by a length.
4 winners in 4 days for Brutal inc this one with more upside at @sconeraceclub

Bird Whistle is a homebred for Rob and Pam Crosby and is the second winner from well bred So You Think mare Think Like a Bird, who also bred and raced by the Crosby’s.
A three time winner up to 1700m, Think Like a Bird is a half-sister to Group I MRC Caulfield Cup winner Southern Speed, who went to stud in Japan where she is the dam of Group II winner Cosmo Kuranda.
It’s a top class family that has also produced Golden Slipper winner Ha Ha and Group I winner Go Indy Go, so Bird Whistle has the pedigree to suggest the best is yet to come.
Like a Bird was a visitor again to Newgate last spring and was covered by Tiger of Malay.
Brutal made it a winning double on the day when four year-old mare Brutal Belle charged home to win the Class 1 over 1300m for the Luke Pepper stable.
Brutal Belle has won three of her past five starts and is clearly on a form upswing.
Brutal stands at a fee of $16,500 this spring and has had a great season siring 58 winners in Australia highlighted by stakes-winners Sentimental Legend and Harlem Queen.
