Kingstar Farm have enjoyed a lot of success with Extreme Choice having bred and sold his Group I winning colts Stay Inside and Devil Night and they were well rewarded at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale on Sunday when selling one of his colts for $480,000.
A half-brother to two winners from stakes-placed Spirit of Boom mare Boomstress, the athletic chestnut was the only weanling to be offered at this sale by his sire and was purchased by Sheng Geng, China.
“It means a lot,” Kingstar Farm’s Adam Cook said. “The Extreme Choice factor has helped us out massively.
“With his results this year I thought it was a very good opportunity to bring him up – realising he would be the only one on offer.
“They’re all rare commodities and when they’re put together right they’re even rarer.”
Boomstress was covered last spring by another of the Newgate sires In the Congo.
Extreme Choice’s Golden Slipper winning son Stay Inside was also popular at the sale with seven weanlings offered and all sold for upwards of $100,000 with his top seller a $220,000 colt from Never Second that was offered by Three Bridges Thoroughbreds and bought by Charles Shanahan/Ciaran Conroy.
