Newgate Farm finished as the fifth leading vendor by average at the 2017 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale selling seven yearlings at an average $520,000.
Top seller was a gorgeous filly by Fastnet Rock from Fleur de Here that made $1,150,000 when secured by Cloud 9 Thoroughbreds.
The star filly is a three-quarter sister to stakes-winner Zamzam, who was placed in the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes.
“She was just an amazing moving filly, a good body. She ticked every box, she has a great pedigree and it’s always good buying a filly that looks like a colt,” Brent Stanley told ANZ Bloodstock News.
“She was one of those horses. The client has had success with me picking them for them before. Hopefully I can get one over the line as well.
“The sale is amazing, high quality horses. I have been under-bidder on several horses and the couple that I really wanted you have to pay a bit extra for. We bid more for her and got her at the right price.”
Other big sales for Newgate were the Exceed and Excel colt from So Tempted that went to the Hong Kong Jockey Club for $800,000 and the Snitzel filly from Celebria that made $550,000 when bought by the China Horse Club.
We wish all successful purchasers the best of luck going forward.
Another pleasing aspect of the sale was a great result for our proven young sire Foxwedge.
He made a splash with his lone entry, a lovely filly from Victory Cry that made $420,000 for South Australian vendors Mill Park Stud.
A half-sister to stakes-winner Guard of Honour, she was bought by South African purchasers Craig Roscoe / Brett Crawford
