I Am Invincible mare Bleu Zebra has been a goldmine for Eureka Stud giving them their first million dollar yearling when her colt by Stay Inside was sold at Magic Millions in 2025, so it was a bittersweet moment when they parted company with her at MM National on Wednesday for $725,000.
That $1million colt was bought by James Harron Bloodstock Colt Partnership/Tony Fung Colts and racing as Incognito won the Group III ATC Breeders Plate on debut for the Michael Freedman stable.
He performed well against all the best juveniles and contested the Golden Slipper putting his Golden Slipper winning sire Stay Inside on the map.
Blue Zebra was offered in foal to Stay Inside and purchased by Sheng Geng, China.
“It’s always sad when you have to sell mares like this, just beautiful mares that are part of the family at home, but she needed to be sold and it was a massive result,” said Harry McAlpine.
“She’s got a pretty famous name, this mare, a unique name. She’s thrown a million-dollar yearling, she’s obviously a good-looking mare herself and she’s thrown a Breeders’ Plate winner this season.
“So she’s done it all, she’s very current, everyone knows her name and she’s a special mare.”
Incognito was just the second foal from modest Brisbane metro winner Bleu Zebra, who has now had two to race and both are winners.
Eureka Stud sold her yearling filly by Pinatubo (IRE) as a weanling for $280,000 and she then made $600,000 for Bell River Thoroughbreds at Magic Million this year when bought by Ciaron Maher.
Her final foal for Eureka Stud is a weanling colt by the farm’s young Extreme Choice stallion Don Corleone, so he is bred on the same cross as Incognito, whose sire Stay Inside is also by Extreme Choice.
