Newgate young gun sires Tiger of Malay and Wild Ruler delivered the quinella in the open juvenile race at Caulfield on Saturday with exciting prospect Obambulate scoring a dominant win over promising first starter Vivid Storm.
Trained by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, Obambulate broke the ice at his second start with a narrow win at Pakenham on May 15 and has gone forward from that in leaps and bounds.
Ridden by Craig Williams, Obambulate stalked the leader Vivid Storm and angled wide turning for home to charge right through the line to win the 1200m contest by two and a half lengths.

One of four winners for Tiger of Malay, Obambulate was a pinhook winner before he became a racetrack winner!
He was a $75,000 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale purchase for Jim Carey from the Glen Gallic Stud draft and then made $140,000 when bought from the Newgate draft at Magic Millions by Busuttin Racing.
Obambulate is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Group II placed Lucky Lago, a half-sister by Encosta de Lago to Group I VRC Oaks winner Pinot from Group I ATC Australian Oaks winner Dizelle.
Lucky Lago has another weanling filly by Tiger of Malay, who stands at a fee of $11,000 at Newgate this spring.
