Unbeaten at the trials, speedy Profiteer gelding Peter Profit took his good form to race day to score a debut victory on Friday as a short priced favourite.
Trained by Jay Bellamy, Peter Profit lined up in the 1100m juvenile maiden at Rockhampton off the back of three trial wins at the Gold Coast and Beaudesert this year.
He cruised home to score by a length and a half.

A $28,000 Inglis Classic purchase for his trainer from the Robin Wise draft at Inglis Classic, Peter Profit was bred by Scott Seamer and is the first winner for So Cait, an unraced half-sister by smart Missile to stakes-winner Shining Smile from the family of Champion Sprinter and G1 sire Starspangledbanner.
So Cait has a weanling filly by another of the young Newgate sires in Tiger of Malay.
Peter Profit is the third winner (one in the Philippines) for Profiteer, whose quality 2YO Star of Jamaica was placed in the Group II ATC Skyline Stakes.
Profiteer stands at Newgate this spring at a fee of $11,000.
