Newgate young guns Capitalist, Extreme Choice and Winning Rupert all had six figure sales at the Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale this week.
Golden Slipper winner Capitalist sired five weanlings that averaged $100,600, Blue Diamond winner Extreme Choice had three weanlings average $90,667 and record breaking sprinter Winning Rupert had six weanlings average $54,000.
Burnewang North had a great result with their Capitalist colt from Feeling Positive that made $155,000 to the bid of IDK Racing, who will re-offer the colt as a yearling next year.
“We liked the Capitalist colt the first time we saw him and we went back a couple more times,” said Peter Morgan, who was acting for IDK Racing.
“He is just a nice colt. He will be a nice horse come the Premier Sale.”
The colt is the second foal of minor winner Feeling Positive, a half-sister by Not a Single Doubt to stakes-winners Mitraad and Combat Kitty.
Extreme Choice had the single best result of any first season sire at the sale with his filly from Sprout fetching $165,000 for Glastonbury Farm when snapped up by Bruce MacKenzie.
A filly with a big pedigree, she is the second foal of a half-sister to Group III winner Colour and to the dam of Group II winner Derryn from the True Blonde branch of the Easy Date family that is famous for producing Golden Slipper winner Forensics.
This lovely filly is the most expensive weanling by Extreme Choice sold anywhere this year.
Winning Rupert scored a big hit with his filly from Cottesmoor that made $145,000 for Princess Park when snapped up by Hall of Fame Bloodstock for $145,000.
She was bought for a Hong Kong based client and is likely to be retained to race. She is the second foal of a half-sister by Duporth to Group II winner Lonhspresso.
