Joining forces with John Singleton, Newgate/GPI are set to run his blisteringly fast three-year-old filly Blue Door in their TAB Everest slot. The Bjorn Baker-trained daughter of Stay Inside announced herself as an Everest contender on Saturday, becoming the fastest filly to win the Heritage Stakes.  

 “Blue Door was brilliant winning last Saturday’s Group 3 Heritage Stakes in record-breaking time, and being by Newgate’s exciting young sire Stay Inside makes her an incredibly exciting prospect for The Everest,” said Newgate’s Henry Field. 

“Most importantly, my partners and I, along with Greg and Barb Ingham at GPI Racing, felt Blue Door could bring a huge amount of X-factor to The Everest. She is naturally very fast, she’s in outstanding form, and three-year-olds have such a strong record in the race. We’re really excited to see what she can do.” 

For Field, sharing the occasion with Singleton makes the partnership particularly special. 

“I’ve known John Singleton my whole life, so it’s a real honour to be sharing this experience with him and his family over the next few weeks.”  

Singleton shared the sentiment “I’ve know Henry since he was 10 years old, he grew up with my daughters, I like the way Henry goes about things and he is the sort of person you can do a handshake deal with knowing he will honour it. Blue Door is very fast and with only 51kgs, she will be in front for a long way in the TAB Everest.”
