The reigning leading sire of Australian winners, Capitalist posted his first 2YO winner of the new season when the Kelly Schweida trained filly Venus Invicta won the first juvenile event of the season in Brisbane at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
An easy barrier trial winner at Doomben last month , Venus Invicta started a short priced favourite and once the gates opened the result was never in doubt.
She surged forward to take the lead for Martin Harley, gave a good kick off the home turn and then coasted home to win the 1000m scamper by nearly two lengths.
A $110,000 Magic Millions purchase from Cressfield for her trainer, Venus Invicta has earned a few weeks in the paddock after her debut win with Schweida confirming a short break was the immediate plan ahead of a crack at the $3million Magic Millions 2YO Classic in January.
Venus Invicta is the first foal of Dream of Venus, a winning I Am Invincible daughter of Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Real Surreal.
