Former star mare Aqua D’Amore featured with an impressive winner at Te Rapa in New Zealand on Wednesday.
Three year-old More Than Ready (USA) gelding Northern Legend won by a length and a quarter over 1400 metres at his second start as a hot favourite.
Prepared by Tony Pike, he was narrowly beaten on debut last month, but is clearly on the improve.
A $140,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for Beatson Stables, Northern Legend was re-offered at the NZB Ready to Run Sale where he made $210,000 and now runs for Raffles Racing.
Bred by SF Bloodstock and foaled and raised at Newgate Farm, he is the third winner for Group I winner and $1.9 million earner Aqua D’Amore, who was on-sold by Newgate Farm at the 2014 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale fetching $340,000.
